Chinese publication Collection of Women's Studies has become an authoritative journal in the field of Chinese women's studies and gender studies, said Vice Director of the Women's Studies Institute of China (WSIC) Xiao Yang said at the 2014 Extended Editorial Board Conference for the journal in Beijing on December 18, 2014.

Xiao, who also serves as executive chief editor of Collection of Women's Studies, also said that as an academic journal, the collection not only bears excellent scientific research and dissemination of academic mission but also faces pressures from both the ever-developing pool of people's professional knowledge and competition from other publications.

In order to help make the journal become even more distinguished and influential, Xiao called on all members of the editorial department and board to contribute their own wisdom and to continuously exert their best efforts for the journal.

Mi Ruixin, vice-chief editor of Collection of Women's Studies, also delivered a speech at the conference. She said that according to up-to-date data from China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) — a website dedicated to the mass digitalization of China's intelligence resources — the 2013 average impact factor and cumulative impact factor (measurements for how often a journal is cited within other academic publications) of Collection of Women's Studies have reached 0.545 and 0.950 respectively, marking record-high numbers for the publication's authoritative power. Mi also summarized the shortcomings and future challenges of the editorial department and outlined their work plan for the following year.

The 2014 Extended Editorial Board Conference on Collection of Women's Studies was held in Beijing on December 18, with a view to further improve the journal's quality and social influence as well as to promote the development and prosperity of Chinese women's and gender studies.

Collection of Women's Studies, a bimonthly journal launched in January 1992 and sponsored by the WSIC, is a comprehensive academic journal published in China and internationally. It became the official journal of the China Women's Studies Society in 2001. Aimed at promoting the development of women's studies, it publishes research papers and academic information reflecting and exploring theoretical and practical issues related to women's development. It has been named one of the core national journals since 1996 and has been the source journal of the Chinese Social Science Citation Index (CSSCI), the Chinese Social Science Citation Database, the Chinese Academic Journal Comprehensive Evaluation Database and other major academic journal evaluation systems since 1999. The Collection of Women's Studies was honored in 2004 as the Humanities and Social Sciences Core Journal and won a special prize at the 2003 Chinese Female Literature Awards.
