Du Jie, vice-director of the Women's Studies Institute of China (WSIC) said that the female soldiers of the Red Army played an important part in China's women's movement and it was worth keeping records about women's development, at a forum on the subject in Beijing.

The Compilation Forum on the Female First Front Red Army in the Long March was held in the capital on April 16. It was proposed by the president of the China Yan'an Spirit Research Society, Li Tieying, under special instruction from Shen Yueyue, president of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF). The event was supervised by Song Xiuyan, vice-president and first member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF).

In order to better facilitate research into the subject, the forum focused on discussing how to collect historical materials, as well as outlining the latest trends in relative topics.

Du stressed the significance of recording the Red Army. She said that research into female soldiers of the Red Army in the Long March can also enrich the history of the Long March, women's history and the Party's history, which has brought significant meaning to academic studies.

Vice-President of the China Yan'an Spirit Research Society, Su Xisheng, introduced the topic and overall framework, as well as the specific requirements of future projects.

Jiang Xiuhua, assistant to director of the WSIC and director of the Historical Research Office, presided over the conference and concluded that the participating experts provided key clues and research directions to the process of compiling records of the female members of the Red Army in the Long March, which laid an important foundation for the next step in the studies.

More than 20 experts from the Party's History Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the National Defense University PLA China, the Military Museum of the Chinese People's Revolution and other institutions also attended the forum.
