Some 90 percent of tourists and employees in the Chinese tourism industry said the film Wolf Warriors 2 has enhanced their confidence and sense of safety in overseas travel, according to a recent report.

The Chinese action flick, which was released in July, earned 5 billion yuan (U.S.$ 746 million) at the box office as of August 19, making it the highest-grossing movie ever in the country.

The survey, conducted by Ctrip.com, China's largest online travel agency, polled its users who were going to travel abroad or have taken trips in 2017.

Findings indicate that 92.2 percent of the respondents said the film enhanced their confidence and sense of safety on outbound tourism.

When surveying several hundreds of international tour guides, 93 percent held the same view.

About 98.5 percent noted that the film boosts their sense of national pride.

In the film, a short message is shown on the cover of a Chinese passport, reading: “When you encounter danger in a foreign land, do not give up! Please remember, at your back stands our strong motherland.”

Currently, 120 million Chinese people hold passports, but 90 percent of them have still never traveled abroad.

Meanwhile, since the release of the movie, number of Ctrip users who applied for visas and overseas travel has increased by 25 percent, according to the findings.
