The Women's Studies Institute of China (WSIC) held a forum to publicize and promote the transformation of research achievements of the National Social Science Fund major project titled 'Studies on Gender Equality Values and Discussions on Related Theories' on September 15 in Beijing.
Liu Yamei, director of the WSIC, gave a speech at the forum. She said that this major project, declared by the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) and led by former ACWF President Chen Zhili, systematically investigated the theoretical connotation of gender equality values, status of social identity, channels of communication and realization approaches from a gender perspective, which has an important theoretical and practical significance for promoting gender equality and the all-round development of women.
The project, highly valued by Shen Yueyue, vice-chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) and president of the ACWF; Tan Lin, vice-president and member of the Secretariat of the ACWF; and other ACWF leaders, is fully expected to better publicize and promote the transformation of research achievements so as to make contributions to the cultivation and practice of socialist core values.
Liu hoped that the research team could work together to publish an academic book with high-level theory, with a view to further expanding the social influence of the study.
Researcher Ma Yan, general coordinator of the project and vice-director of the WSIC Theory Office, introduced the basic information of the closing project and five other sub-project chiefs shared their theoretical viewpoints and writing experiences.
Experts and scholars conducted a series of discussions on how to further compile the academic book and how to carry out the publicity and transformation of the project results, putting forward many constructive suggestions.
Jiang Xiuhua, vice-director of the WSIC, spoke highly of the consensus that was reached in the conference and called for the research team to make great efforts to work on the book compilation.
More than 20 core researchers from Peking University, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Communication University of China, Hebei University, China Women's University, Department of Rights and Interest of the ACWF and WSIC attended the forum.
