According to a recent investigation about women's cognition on their images and values on family and career, nearly 80 percent of Chinese women stated that they intend to pursue personal independent development.

The study indicates that women have started to have a new outlook on their identity, especially for those born after 1995. Only 23 percent of them appreciated family-oriented women with traditional values.

Over half of women aspired to be independent economically and 19 percent wanted to be cool and different, whereas respondents born in 1970s and 1980s accounted for 4.7 percent and 6 percent respectively.

In contrast to women, 71 percent of male respondents still hold an even more traditional idea of women's images. According to them, women should be tender and filled with love and care. However, women believed that independence and talent would allow them to make a difference.

When it comes to their views on family and career, young men showed a more open-minded attitude. Around 59 percent of men born after 1995 indicated that they would like to return to the family and shoulder the family responsibility to support their spouses' career development.

Moreover, the survey also proved ambitions of the young generations. About 80 percent of young men and 73 percent of young women intended to start their own businesses in the future.

A director of a company's human resources department said, "We are very glad to see more young women contributing more time and energy to their jobs and showing their strong competitiveness in the workplace."
