Domestic and foreign businesswomen have harvested great commercial achievements at the 15th China-ASEAN Expo in Nanning, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, from September 12-15.

The expo, held under the theme of "Jointly Building the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, Forging the China-ASEAN Community of Innovation," was designed to deepen cooperation in fields including economy, trade, scientific and technological innovation and international capacity.

The expo was held within a total exhibition area of 124,000 square meters, providing 6,600 booths, of which 1,594 were established for countries and regions of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). There were 2,780 exhibitors, 112 buyer groups and over 11,000 professional visitors.

The China-ASEAN Expo has become an important platform for the progress of the Belt and Road Initiative. Meanwhile, Chinese women have also been active participants in all-round exchanges and cooperation during the event.

Thai exhibitor Enkara operates three restaurants in Bangkok, Thailand. After a Chinese tourist showed great interest in their sauce, she keenly captured the business opportunity and intended to sell her sauce to Chinese tourists.

Enkara first participated in the China-ASEAN Expo in Nanning in 2016 and her sauce has since received great popularity. However, the language barrier has greatly hindered the promotion and sales of her products.

She then returned to her country and learned Chinese, sparing no efforts. This year, she can introduce her products to customers with Chinese phrases. Thanks to this, the spices she brought sold out, and more than 10 merchants expressed their willingness to sell the sauce as agents.

Zhou Yaxian, president of Shenguan Co. in Wuzhou, Guangxi, has gained much attention at the expo thanks to their newly developed products. According to her, the company's core product collagen casing has occupied 80 percent of the domestic market and more than 30 percent of the world's market share. Their products have been exported to more than 30 countries and regions such as North and South America, Southeast Asia and Europe.

Some other Chinese and foreign female guests from political and business circles have also attended the expo and extended their positive comments.

Wu Wenhui, chief representative of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council in south China, said that the expo has linked China to the 10 ASEAN countries in the context of the Belt and Road Initiative. It is also an important international platform for Hong Kong to cooperate with the ASEAN countries, which helps create more opportunities for the international development of more domestic enterprises.

Arlinda, director general of the National Export Development of the Indonesian Ministry of Trade, said that, "In the past 15 years, the China-ASEAN Expo has effectively promoted cooperation between China and Indonesia and other ASEAN countries in the fields of politics, economy, culture and tourism."

She also hopes that China and Indonesia will enhance cooperation in infrastructure, investment, industry, finance and e-commerce, and Indonesia will export more quality products to China through the expo.

According to the data, the expo has organized more than 90 trade and investment promotion activities and agreements on 530 economic cooperation projects have been signed, of which 76 were international and 454 were domestic.
