The Second World Conference on Women was held in Copenhagen in 1980. More than 2,000 representatives from 145 UN member states and UN institutions attended the conference and 8,000 people participated in the NGO Forum on Women. The conference adopted the Program of Action for the Second Half of the United Nations Decade for Women and held a signing ceremony for the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women.
