The 7th National Women's Congress of China took place in Beijing from September 1-6, 1993, with 1,180 Chinese women from all ethnicities and walks of life in attendance. The assembly came at a new historical era in China’s reform and opening-up and modernization.

Hu Jintao, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, and member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, addressed the congress. Huang Qizao, Vice-President of the All-China Women's Federation, delivered the work report entitled, National Women Unite and Work hard to Build Socialism with Chinese Characteristics.

The congress deliberated and adopted amendments to the Constitution of the All-China Women's Federation, and elected members of the ACWF new leading body. They were: Chen Muhua as President; Huang Qizao, Zhang Guoying, Lin Liyun, Zhao Di, Nie Li, Ngapoi • Caidan Zhuoga (Tibetan), Mnyinuer•Hasimu (Uygur), Hao Zhichun, He Luli, Kong Lingren, Wei Yu, Wang Shuxian and Liu Hairong as Vice-Presidents.
