A National Social Sciences Fund gender equality studies program was launched in Hefei, capital of east China's Anhui Province, on September 20, 2012.


Chen Zhili, president of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) and chairperson of the Women's Studies Institute of China (WSIC), attended the launch ceremony and made a speech in which she emphasized the importance of women in the development of a country. She added that gender equality has always been a key goal in the women's movement in China.

Chen pointed out that the program should tackle practical problems to promote gender equality and build a social atmosphere that is conducive to women's development.


Chen also added that the results of the program should be submitted to the National Social Sciences Fund to provide meaningful references for the government to create laws and policies, and to women's federations so that they can include gender equality in various cultural activities they organize.


More than 30 members from the ACWF, Communication University of China and Hebei University attended the launch ceremony
