There are three sections in this book. They are the development myth and an exploration of the appeal of gender equality; rural development projects and gender analysis; and case analysis of an investigation into the status quo of gender roles in a Yao Ethnic Minority village located in south China Yunnan province. These materials cover the author's exploration and deliberation in rural development areas for more than a decade. Most of projects were conducted with a focus on gender issues or into the state of gender sensibilities and others cover related research and analysis. The times are hard in the village and there are still temporary shortages in areas but it is made clear in review we should face up to the appeal of gender equality.
