Since the foundation of New China, the Chinese government has released a series of social policies on women's development and many achievements have been made, which have provided a social environment for the promotion of women's development. This essay reviews the related policies of women's liberation and developments promulgated during the sixty years after the set-up of New China, and discusses the related policies and implementation status associated with women's liberation and development from the social gender perspective. This essay indicates that only if social gender elements are included in the decision and implementation process can real social gender mainstreaming be realized.
