A Chinese author Tao Hui recently published a book devoted to the topics of women's costume culture. In China, the study of costume culture from a social gender perspective is still in its infancy. The book, written by Tao Hui, brings new ideas to the field in contemporary times. The author finds that the structuring of feminine costume culture alternates "between self-consciousness and unconsciousness." Tao also believes that women are on the weaker side of rights distributions, and many try to change their status by choosing different kinds of costume.
