International Conference on Gender and Social Transformation: Global, Transnational and Local Realities and Perspectives

July 17, 2009 saw the opening of the three-day International Conference on Gender and Social Transformation: Global, Transnational and Local Realities and Perspectives organized by Chinese Women's Research Society, which ended on Sunday July 19.
The purpose of the conference is to widen the impact of Chinese women's/gender studies on international academic circles by promoting exchanges and cooperation among domestic and international scholars and the institutions dedicated to gender issues.
Huang Qingyi, former vice-president and first member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), and Zhen Yan, member of the Secretariat of ACWF are attending the conference, to which more than 200 scholars, experts and workers from 27 provinces of China and 24 countries and regions have been invited to discuss cutting-edge gender issues.
