The Chinese Women's Research Society annual meeting and the Beijing+15 Forum on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the fourth World Conference on Women convened in Beijing on November 29-30, 2010. Chen Zhili, vice-chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, president of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) and of the Chinese Women's Research Society (CWRS), gave a keynote speech at the event's opening ceremony.
At the ceremony Chief of the UN Theme Group on Gender and Director of UNESCO Beijing Office Abhimanyu Singh spoke of China's efforts in realizing the goals of the Beijing Platform for Action and also the UN Millennium Development Goals.
The forum's 300 participants included government officials from related departments, ACWF and CWRS leaders, experts and scholars from universities and research institutions nationwide. Among the topics they discussed were the women's movement and mechanisms for raising women's status, women's education, training and economy, women's human rights and laws, violence against women, women's health and culture, and development of women/gender disciplines. The CWRS will also present awards to authors of the outstanding women's research essays presented at the meeting in the interests of supporting gender studies.
