Summary: Editor's note: From 2011 to 2014, the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) and the UN Women jointly carried out the "Promotion of China's Women's Political Participation" project. It aims to promote women in provincial, county and the village-level, to fully realize the protection of women's rights, given by "Law of the People's Republic of China on the Protection of the Rights and Interests of Women", "Women's Development Outline", and "Village Organization Law". During the next two years, all national levels of Party will shift, including: the National People's Congress, National People's Political Consultative Conference; and many areas will conduct the election of villagers' committees, providing opportunities for women's political participation. The project will take politics, research, and advocacy, as a whole, to promote the progress of women's political participation in the new round of elections. For better understanding of the present situation of Chinese women's political participation, on April 8, 2011, Women's Research Institution of ACWF held "the Promotion of China's Women's Political Participation Interchange Seminar", and invited the organizations and experts and scholars with certain experience to communicate and discuss on future integration of resources and the strengthening of cooperation. Its purpose was to seize opportunities, to form a cohesive force, and to work together to promote women's political participation. This briefing released the main content and achievements of the meeting, for reference.
