Summary: The proportion of female members of Parliament across the globe has always been regarded as an important symbol to evaluate the degree of women's participation in politics by international community. Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) has been collecting all sorts of statistics that women's participation in parliaments for three decades, with an view to measuring the progress of gender equality and political democracy in different countries. In 2015, the proportion of female members of Parliaments was 22.6 percent, which was an increase of 0.5 percentage point over last year. Now, those countries, whose proportion of female members of Parliament accounting for over 30 percent, have reached more than one quarter worldwide.
