Main content: Report on Gender Equality and Women's Development in China (2006-2007) is a combination of theories, applications and information intended to provide a thorough and objective understanding of the relationship between social justice/livelihood improvement and gender equality/women's development in the social context of ensuring economic growth, improving people's livelihood, maintaining stability and promoting harmony.

It describes improvements in gender equality and women's development over the past two years from the macro perspective, and examines the problems that vulnerable groups such as migrant worker women, laid-off women, left-behind women, elderly women, left-behind girls and disabled women face from the micro perspective. From the social gender perspective, it analyses measures to improve relevant laws and policies to promote gender equality and women's development in the context of improving people's livelihood.

It also publishes appraisal results on gender equality and women's development from the six perspectives of health, education, economy, politics and decision-making, the family, and the recent development environment, revealing variances in progress among China's provinces, regions and municipalities, and providing scientific reference material for promoting gender equality and women's development.
