Main content: The Almanac of Chinese Women's Studies (2001-2005) comprises 35 articles, a large number of entries on study achievements and information reflecting progress in women's studies. It is in five main sections. They are: important literature; study summaries; study achievements; introductions to academic organizations, conferences and scholars; and an appendix. The book's summary points out five characteristics of China's women and gender studies from 2001 to 2005: (1) research areas have been expanded and research content has been deepened; (2) the role of research in promoting legislative decision-making has been strengthened; (3) substantial progress has been achieved in discipline construction; (4) research methods and academic standards have been established; (5) research institutionalization has been improved. The summary also details major progress that has been made in studies on major social issues concerning women, important legislative decision-making, basic theory, women's history and international women.
