Women throughout the world today address the serious problem of balancing their career and personal life. This is especially the case in China in its period of transformation. To learn from the experience of developed countries in this respect and propel healthy construction and development of socialist harmony, China Women's University, the Women's Education Committee of the Chinese Women's Study Society, and Japan Women's University will jointly host the China-Japan Academic Symposium on Career Women's work-life balance from 27 to 28 October, 2010. We extend a warm invitation to specialists and scholars at all universities and colleges, research institutes, and social groups who are concerned about the status today and future development of career women and future development.

I. Main Content:

1. Central theme:
Career women's work-life balance amid social transformation

2. Sub-themes:
1) Theoretical discussions on career women's work-life balance
2) Factors affecting career women's work-life balance and their countermeasures
3) Study on modern career women's dual-role conflict and countermeasures
4) Study on career women's roles and achievements
5) Making and advocating social policies relevant to career women's work-life balance
6) International comparisons of work-life balance

II.Symposium scale and attendance

60 attendants are expected, including:
 1. Relevant leaders from the government and Women's Federation system
 2. Women's Studies specialists from Japan, Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan
 3. Teachers, scholars and interested graduates from universities, colleges, and institutions.

III. Schedule

1.Length of symposium: two days: 27-28 October, 2010
2.Site: Beijing (exact details of site to be advised)

IV. Submission time for acknowledgement of receipt

1. Thesis papers and abstracts will be collected in advance, an academic committee formed to evaluate the theses, and a spokesman appointed. Attendants should submit an abstract of 300 Chinese characters which will be edited, to facilitate exchanges. The abstract, including key words, theme, content, and conclusion, plus the acknowledgement of receipt, should be emailed to
jiangcwu2010@126.com by 10 September, 2010.
 
2. Thesis submission deadline
 The entire thesis shall be submitted to
jiangcwu2010@126.com by 10 October, 2010.
3. We hope to receive professional papers for exchange purposes. After the symposium, excellent theses will be formally published.
