Source:Chinese Women's Research Network | Release Date:2010-8-19
Keyword: women, matrimonial suites, gender
Author: WU Xin
Summary:

Matrimonial suite is a way to solve conflicts in marriage. Because of individuals, family members, members of lineages and local officials on each side contesting relentlessly against each other in legal procedures, gender differences were brought to light. Women's status and identity were defined in relation to social resources that were provided by laws, customs and ethical rules, just as gender was constructed in lineage rules and relations.
